👨‍💻 Managing Servers V
Introduction
Effective server management is critical for ensuring your campaigns run smoothly with minimal downtime. Eversend makes this process easy by automating key tasks like performance monitoring, traffic handling, and resource optimization. With support from providers like Bitlaunch and DigitalOcean, and Eversend’s built-in Agent software, you can efficiently manage your servers, ensuring high uptime and security.
In this article, we’ll cover everything from how to read and understand the server table, to terminating and rebooting servers. You’ll also learn how servers are later integrated into domain management within Eversend, helping you seamlessly connect infrastructure to your campaigns. By the end, you’ll have a complete understanding of how to manage servers in Eversend and optimize them for your marketing efforts.
Understanding the Server Table in Eversend
The Server Table in Eversend provides a centralized view of all servers, whether they are integrated with hosting providers like BitLaunch or DigitalOcean or from non-integrated sources. This table is designed to give you a quick snapshot of each server's key details, as well as options to manage and interact with them efficiently.
You can customize the table by hiding or rearranging columns to create different views based on your workflow. Multiple custom views can be saved, named, and reused as needed, allowing you to switch between different layouts depending on the task at hand.
Here’s a breakdown of the columns in the Server Table and what each one means:
- Name: The custom or automatically generated name for the server (e.g., bitlaunch-ubuntu-buc1-nibble-1024). It serves as a unique identifier, and editors and owners can change the name if needed. You can copy the server name by hovering over it and using the provided copy option.
- Server ID: This is the unique ID assigned to the server by the hosting provider (e.g., 415745220). You might need this ID for certain actions related to the server on the provider's side, such as troubleshooting or contacting support.
- IP Address: This shows the server’s primary IP address, which could be IPv4 or IPv6. If the server has multiple IPs, you’ll see the total number displayed (e.g., "2 IPs"), which you can click or hover over to see a popover with all the addresses.
- Status: Displays the current operational status of the server, such as Active, Off, Rebooting, Deploying, Terminated, or Error. This information is pulled directly from the hosting provider’s API, giving you real-time updates on server health.
- API Token: Displays the first 3 and last 4 digits of the API token generated for the agent. This is useful for verification and management purposes but ensures security by not exposing the full token, especially for servers purchased through Eversend.
- Region: Indicates where the server is physically or virtually located, such as Amsterdam1 or London1.
- Domains: Shows how many domains are currently linked to this server.
- Hosting Provider Name: Identifies the hosting provider used to purchase the server, such as DigitalOcean or BitLaunch. This helps differentiate between servers from multiple providers in one unified view or identify servers added manually to Eversend.
- Hosting Account: Displays the specific account name from the hosting provider used to purchase the server.
- Agent Status: Displays the status of Eversend’s Agent software installed on the server. The agent is responsible for server monitoring and performance tracking, and this column lets you know if the agent is active or needs attention.
- Tags: You can assign and view tags for each server to help organize and categorize them. Owners and editors can add or delete tags, while viewers can only see them.
- Permissions: Shows the current access permissions for each server.
- Notes: This column allows you to add important notes related to each server. Owners and editors can add or edit notes, while viewers can only view them.
Floating Bar & Context Menu Actions
When you select one or more servers, a floating action bar appears, giving owners and editors the ability to:
- Reboot Server: Restart the selected server to resolve issues or apply updates. This is useful for temporary fixes without fully shutting down the server.
- Terminate Server: Permanently shut down the server on the provider's side, freeing up resources. Be cautious, as this action cannot be undone. Note that reboot and terminate actions only work for servers purchased through Eversend, not those added manually.
- Manage Permissions: Control who can access and modify the server’s settings.
- Add/Remove Tags: Organize servers with tags for easier tracking and management.
Summary
Managing servers in Eversend is designed to be efficient and user-friendly for bulk server management, allowing you to monitor server performance, assign resources, and perform key actions like rebooting or terminating servers directly from the Server Table. Whether you're organizing servers with tags, managing permissions, or viewing linked domains, Eversend streamlines server management to support your high-traffic campaigns.
With automated monitoring through Eversend's Agent software and seamless integration with providers like Bitlaunch and DigitalOcean, you can focus on running your campaigns while Eversend handles the technical side. Just remember that advanced actions like rebooting and terminating servers are only available for servers purchased through Eversend and only to owners and editors of the servers, keeping your infrastructure under control.
