🧠 Understanding Resources and Permissions

Introduction

Managing marketing campaigns can be challenging, especially when it comes to keeping everything organized and ensuring the right people have access. In Eversend, the concept of "Resources" helps solve these problems. Resources are the components you need for campaigns, like domains, servers, and landers. This article will explain what resources are, how permissions work, and how everything connects to make managing campaigns easier.

What is a Resource?

A "Resource" in Eversend is anything used in your campaigns, including Domains, Traffic Campaigns, Servers, Prelanders, and even Campaigns themselves. For example, a domain like "domain.com" or a server named "P12" are resources.

All resources have a similar set of features, such as properties, permissions, and references to other resources. Additionally, all resources are organized into "Resource Views" to make management easier.

Properties

All resources share the following set of properties:

  • Tags: Tags help organize resources. A tag consists of a key (e.g., Language) and a value (e.g., Italian, English).
  • Notes: Notes enable users to add unformatted information to resources, visible to everyone who has access to the resource.

Permissions

Permissions determine who can view, edit, or delete resources.

  • Permissions and Hierarchies: Permissions can be assigned to individual members or teams, allowing them to view, edit, or own (delete) a resource. For example, a campaign can be shared with a specific person or team.
  • Team Associations: Permissions follow a hierarchy. If a resource is shared with Team A, and Team B manages Team A, then Team B will have the same access.
  • Creating Resources: Admins control who can create different types of resources, ensuring everything stays organized.

References

Resources in Eversend are often interconnected. For example, to create a campaign, you need a Domain that points to a Server, and a Lander that is accessible through that domain and hosted on that server.

References are a special type of resource property that link one resource to another, making it clear how different components depend on each other.

Resource Views

Resource Views exist to help you manage resources effectively. You can customize columns, their order, and apply filters for each Resource View. Once configured, you can save these views and easily switch between them. You can also share Resource Views with other members or teams within the workspace.
